Two hot meals a week

The Upper Pont Kitchen is part of the Community Support Project and is preparing two hot meals a week.

In recent months we have seen all of our social events and venues close and our lives change in many ways. As it has become obvious that we that are going to be living with social distancing for some time, we have decided to run the Upper Pont Kitchen.

The meals can be free for those who are struggling at the moment, but they are also available for £3 for a main course and dessert for those who just want to be part of something in the community, (it is rather nice to think you will be enjoying the same meal as many others at the same time and there will also be a news leaflet with each meal, with photos from round the area, poems and stories from locals ).

I know that Ron and I rarely cook a roast dinner just for the two of us and therefore the Sunday lunch will always be a proper Sunday Roast and pudding and will be ideal for people living alone or couples. The Wednesday evening meal will be some mid-week classics like chicken and leek pie, shepherd's pie, mince and dumplings etc with a dessert.

Please contact Revd Rachel if you would like to be booked in for these meals Tel. 01661 886853 or email: r.scheffer@newcastle.anglican.org and please tell your neighbours who might not be on the internet regularly about it.
